    The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Law University (NLU) Delhi for admission to its undergraduate (BA LLB), postgraduate (LLM) and Ph.D. programs. The AILET is typically held in the month of May every year, and the application process starts in the month of January.

    The AILET consists of 150 multiple-choice questions divided into five sections, English, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Legal Aptitude, Reasoning, Elementary Mathematics (for BA LLB Program Only).

    The total duration of the AILET is 1 hour 30 minutes and the exam is conducted in offline mode.

    OVERVIEW

    All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), which is required for admission to B.A., LL.B. (Hons), and LL.M. level legal studies programmes, is administered by National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi). This entrance test is held at the national level and is just for the legal programmes at NLU Delhi. It is a significant exam that evaluates candidates' abilities in a variety of areas. Before submitting an application, applicants taking the AILET Exam 2023 must review all the exam information, including the exam format, question kinds, degree of difficulty, and eligibility. The parts for legal aptitude and elementary mathematics were eliminated from the AILET Exam Pattern last year as a result of revisions made by NLUD. There are 150 questions on the AILET 2023 Exam, divided into three sections:

    English

    Logical Reasoning

    General Knowledge.

    AILET 2023 for B.A.LL. B(Hons)

    There will be three (3) sections in the B.A.LL. B (Hons.) programme AILET 2023, each with 150 multiple-choice questions for a total of 150 marks. It takes 90 minutes to finish the test.

    There will be 50 questions in Section A: English Language, each earning 50 points.

    There will be 30 questions in Section B: Current Affairs & General Knowledge, each worth 30 marks.

    There will be 70 questions in Section C: Logical Reasoning, each earning 70 points.

    Legal expertise or technical understanding will not be required for the exam, but legal principles may be applied in the logical reasoning component to measure logical ability..


    Exam grading

    Negative marking will be utilised in AILET 2023. According to the formula 0.25*4=1, 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong response in the system of negative marking. There will be a one mark deduction for four wrong answers.

    *If two or more candidates obtain the same score on the AILET, the candidate's merit will be determined by who scored higher on the logical reasoning section of the test in 2023.

    If the applicants' qualifications are equal, the elder applicant will be given preference. If the merit does not change, then the results of a computerised lotteries will be considered.

    In addition, the AILET Exam Pattern will have 2 portions for PG. Both MCQ and descriptive questions will be asked, in which:

    Total number of MCQs: 50 questions

    Number of descriptive questions: 2 questions to be answered

    Number and Type of Questions- Candidates have to attempt a total of 150 MCQ-type questions for AILET Exam conducted for the BA LLB program, 50 objective type questions and 2 descriptive questions for LLM program, and 50 MCQ-type and 1 descriptive question for Ph.D. program.

    Questions were on expected lines on synonyms, word meanings, analogy, idioms, foreign phrases, and phrasal verbs

    New entrants - punctuation marks and their role in comprehension, logical organization, and sentence type.

    Theme, tone, and inference questions in abundance

     

    Current Affairs and GK

     

    Questions mostly from the last 6 months.

    Questions majorly from Sports, Persons in news, places in the news

    There were no direct questions from core static GK, but 3-4 questions having Static GK orientation

     

    Logical Reasoning

     

    A lot of AR questions around Bood Relations, Relations, and Data Arrangement (DA). Some of the questions may not directly look like DA questions, but the candidate needs to use skills similar to those required for DA to solve these questions. The same applies to questions on blood relations.

    Major CR questions are inferential in nature

    A couple of questions with basic maths orientation. While they were not core mathematics questions, but to solve these questions, you need basic math skills. 

    Difficulty level - Moderate to difficult

    There were no questions from legal reasoning.

    AILET Eligibility Criteria 2023

    NLU Delhi will shortlist only eligible candidates, therefore, those seeking admission at NLU Delhi through AILET must check the eligibility criteria as mentioned below:

    Passing the 10+2 exam or an equivalent exam with at least 45% overall (45% for SC/ST/people with disabilities)


    Applicants who are taking the 10+2 test are also welcome to apply.

    LLM

    LLB or equivalent degree with a minimum mark requirement of 50% (45% for SC/ST/disabled students).

    Candidates who are taking their final year LLB test are also eligible to apply.

    PhD

    LL.M. or an equivalent law degree with 55% marks (50% in the case of SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities)

    Preparation tips for AILET:

    Following are some preparation tips for AILET 2023:

    Arrange your everyday activities and make a study programme with the AILET in mind.

    Try to be regular and dedicate four to five hours per day to studying.

    Wherever it is necessary for AILET preparation, create brief notes, flowcharts, and diagrams, and frequently edit them.

    Finish the AILET course at least two months before the exam.

    In the last two to three months, take practise exams for the AILET and work on papers from past exams. Analyze each AILET mock test after you have done solving and fixing your general difficulties.

    How does AILET merit list is prepared?

    Based on the candidates' total performance (by adding the grades received in each of the three sections), the AILET 2023 BA LLB merit list will be created. In the event of a tie between two or more candidates, the institution will provide a higher rank to the candidates who had the highest reasoning scores. If there is still a tie, preference will be given to the candidate who is older.


    AILET 2023 Dates and Registration Process

    Registration for AILET 2023 has started. The NLU has published a brief notice regarding the AILET 2023 Exam. The application for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) will be made available by September 7th, 2022.

    The AILET 2023 will be held at NLU on December 11, 2022. Soon, NLU will publish a detailed announcement on AILET 2022 on its official website..

    Registration Process:

    Candidates are urged to quickly review the eligibility requirements before completing the AILET 2023 application form. The following details on the AILET Application Form 2023 are all that applicants need to know:


    Step 1: Go to nludelhi.ac.in, the National Law University of Delhi's official website.

    Step 2: Select the Create new account link on the homepage.

    Next, select the Register to Use Now link in Step 3.

    Step 4: Carefully study the application form and all pertinent information regarding the course.

    Step 5: Kindly fill out the "User Registration Form" with the required data. The applicants' information must be accurate, and the information on the 10th grade mark sheet will be taken as authentic; any alterations may result in the application form being rejected.

    Step 6: Click the "Confirm" button for entering registration information.

    Step 7: Choose the appropriate application form, then click "Apply."

    Step 8: Next, select the form you want to pay for by clicking "Make Payment" under the "Pending Requests" area.

    Step 9: You then navigate to the payment gateway, Online banking, a credit card, or a debit card can all be used to complete the AILET 2023 Application payment.

    Choose a payment option, fill out the fee information, and submit payment.

    Step 10: You will get a confirmation email after making the payment. The confirmation slip can then be viewed and printed by candidates.

    Step 11: For future reference, applicants should keep a copy of their completed application form and their fee receipt.

    On December 19, 2022, the AILET 2023 results were released in online mode.
